1. Laugh off your holiday stress

Let the Second City relieve your Yuletide anxiety with their annual holiday sketch revue, Holidazed and Confused. Racist uncles, holiday fat and alcoholic mall Santas are all fair game. (UP Comedy Club, 230 W North Ave, 2pm, 8pm and 11pm. $31–$46)

2. Spend an afternoon at the museum

Explore postmodern design from the 1970s and ‘80s at the Art Institute’s “Design Episodes: Form, Style, Language.” The exhibit is a teaser for fall 2017’s forthcoming permanent display of design and architecture in the Modern Wing.  (Art Institute of Chicago, 111 S Michigan Ave, 10:30am–5pm. $23)

3. Have a very folk holiday

Local singer-songwriter Michael McDermott kicks off his annual Mischief and Mistletoe concert series at City Winery tonight. Expect soothing folk covers of popular Christmas carols. (City Winery, 1200 W Randolph St, 8pm. $28–$38)
