The three best things to do today in Chicago

1. Grab your last glass of Glühwein

Do your last minute Christmas shopping and fill up your boot one more time before Christkindlmarket closes up for the season. It's the last day you'll get to spend at the German-inspired open-air market this year. (Daley Plaza, Washington and Dearborn Sts, 11am-8pm. Free)

2. Munch on free kolacky

Venture to chef Jimmy Papadopoulos' Czech restaurant, Bohemian House, share a chicken paprikash or knackwurst for lunch and receive a free apricot-flavored kolacky—a pastry filled with jelly or jam and dusted with powdered sugar—to finish off the meal. (Bohemian House, 11 W Illinois St, 11:30am-2pm. Free with lunch purchase)

3. Don your best Christmas garb

Celebrate the eve of the eve at Mad River Bar and Grille with your best ugly Christmas sweater. Don't have one? Wear something festive  and try your hand at a raffle where you could win one of the ugliest Miller Lite sweaters while you snack and sip on peppermint bark and egg nog. (Mad River Bar and Grille, 2909 N Sheffield Ave, 9-11pm. Food and drink packages $20)
