The three best things to do today in Chicago

1. Channel your inner Wu-Tang

Wu-Tang Clan members Raekwon and Ghostface Killah are heading to the House of Blues tonight for a good, old-fashioned bout of Shaolin shadowboxing. Most of the tickets are sold out and are only available for resale, but you can still score a balcony seat for $40. If you've never seen Wu-Tang "Bring Da Ruckus," now is a perfect chance. (House of Blues, 329 N Dearborn St, 6:30pm. $40–$130)

2. Listen to some fine jazz and look at some fine art

If the weather is pleasant (that's been a BIG if this summer), Tuesdays on the Terrace at the Museum of Contemporary Art is a great bet. Attendees can order food a la carte or pig out on a buffet for $26. Trumpeter extraordinaire Corey Wilkes will provide tunes, and if you really want to inject some more art into your night, you can pay admission to the museum and check out the new "The Freedom Principle: Experiments in Art and Music, 1965 to Now" exhibit. (Museum of Contemporary Art, 220 E Chicago Ave, 5:30pm. Free)

3. Celebrate Bastille Day downtown

Today marks Bastille Day, or French National Day, and you can express your Francophilia at Daley Plaza with an evening of food, music and, of course, wine. La Jarry will provide the tunes, and you'll be able to find out what the French national anthem sounds like. Vive la France, Chicago. (Daley Plaza, Washington and Dearborn streets, 5:30pm. Free)
