1. Chicago Ideas Week kicks off today, with talks and panels happening citywide throughout the day. Ticket prices and times vary by talk.

2. The works of Brazilian painter Tarsila do Amaral will be on display at the Art Institute's new exhibit, Inventing Modern Art in Brazil. The museum is open from 10:30am to 5pm, and admission is included in the museum entrance fee.

3. Architect James Timberlake will speak tonight at Chicago Architecture Foundation, as part of the ongoing Chicago Architecture Biennial. The lecture begins at 6pm and tickets are $15 for the public.
