Lube up your chains, clean out your crevices and get ready to bare it all, because the World Naked Bike Ride is coming back to Chicago for the 13th year on Saturday. Clothing is optional on the ride, but it's not a nudist gathering—it's a stunt in association with the monthly Critical Mass rides that aim to bring "radical attention" against fossil fuel–based transportation.

If you don't want to strip all the way down to your birthday suit (but still want to get a little freaky), you can take a note out of the playbook from years past by slapping on some sparkly pasties, a banana hammock or another creative way to conceal your fleshy goodies. The ride will be escorted by police, so if you go for the Full Monty you could be a target for a ticket. But considering that thousands of people are expected to attend, that would be like finding a bad Twinkie or Ho Ho in a Hostess factory.

Check-in for participants will be at 6pm, with the ride kicking off at about 8pm. In an effort to keep the lurking creeps at bay, the starting location and route won't be announced until just before the event. You can check for updates on that front at MassUp.

Whether or not you participate in the ride, it's worth taking a moment to appreciate a massive group of people celebrating the beauty of the human body in all its shapes and forms. Also, if you end up grabbing a Divvy the following morning, maybe consider giving it a good wipe down.
