It's now days later, and when I think of lines from 'Humanity', I laugh out loud.  Words like 'legend' and 'genius'  are often used to describe Ricky Gervais, and they fit. But the word I also think of is relatable. He is a huge star, and still, you feel that he's really always gonna be one of us, that he gets the absurdity of it all and turns it on its head and into something hilarious.  Whether you are a fan (I am) or not, there is no denying how smart he is, how spot-on his observations are, how hysterically irreverent and human he is and, most of all, how truly funny he is.  The show, set in the gorgeous Chicago Theatre, was the perfect venue to host this brilliant show.

Mr. Gervais is seemingly unafraid to make jokes about anything he finds funny. There is a great bit of advice about what to do when you find something funny that he gives near the end of the show that I won't give away.  I'm hoping he'll bring this show back to Chicago at some point, so I don't want to spoil it - you should hear it from him. There are additional shows being added later this year in LA and NYC if you are lucky enough to catch one.

Mr. Gervais also makes great use of Twitter in finding material for this show. He skewers some of the comments that have been sent to him that had the audience screaming laughing.

Ricky Gervais is an iconoclast and his humor is honest, sometimes angry and razor sharp. But, it's not mean-spirited.

'Humanity' is a great show. Have a laugh.
