It is an honor to be able to see Wendy Whelan dance. Specifically following her retirement from the New York City Ballet, it is interesting to see Whelan performing modern/contemporary dance. To me, the four pieces seemed to show her transition from prima ballerina to a versatile modern dancer. The first duet appeared the most technically balletic and the next 3 showed increasingly angular and more abstract movements. Wendy Whelan is indeed a "Restless Creature," performing as beautifully at age 47 as she did when she first joined the NYCB.
