Best Local Chain Epic Burger

Chain doesn’t signify commoditized mass culture when the business in question uses cage-free eggs, slices its own fries and serves crispy patties of humanely raised, hormone- and antibiotic-free meats. Epic Burger even offers whole-grain buns alongside white, and yogurt smoothies alongside milkshakes. Since opening in 2008 in the South Loop, the original location has been joined by five others, and we can see why: It’s a rare instance of speedy slow food. Locations citywide.

Other nominees Banh Mi & Co., Hannah’s Bretzel, M Burger, Protein Bar
