Leader Bar opens

At two locations of Uberstein (Wrigleyville, Wicker Park), Mike Matuschka has found success with the combination of picnic tables and Hofbrau pints. Matuschka’s new bar will carry on the beer-garden tradition, but leave behind the German beer-hall theme. Named after Leader Liquors—the previous tenant in the 100-year-old building—Leader Bar caters to the Northwest Side neighborhood with occasional live music, 16 beers on tap and bar food (Angus burgers, thin-crust pizzas) from a former Martini Park chef.
