Whiskey tastings and parties the week of WhiskyFest

No ticket to WhiskyFest? No problem; sip bourbon and rye at these spots instead.


Branch 27 On Thursday, this West Town bistro offers a five-course tasting menu with pairings from Utah’s High West Distillery. David Perkins, High West’s proprietor and Malt Advocate’s 2011 Pioneer of the Year, will give an overview of the Whiskey Silver, Rendezvous Rye, Bourye and 21 Year Rye. 7pm; $50. Delilah’s The insane selection of brown spirits at this Lincoln Park favorite won’t leave you dry during WhiskyFest week. On Thursday at 8pm, Delilah’s is opening some of the first bottles of Evan Williams single barrel 2001 as part of a six-year vertical tasting, with Heaven Hill master distiller Craig Beam stopping by to discuss bourbon and rye. Then on Friday at 10pm, don’t miss Delilah’s WhiskyFest After Party with special guest distillers, bartenders, music, dancing and more. Free. 2771 N Lincoln Ave (773-472-2771). The Gage This downtown gastropub with a lengthy whiskey list hosts a seminar and tasting on Thursday of the latest product from Ravenswood’s Koval Distillery: Lion’s Pride Whiskey. Meg Bell from the distillery will be on hand to discuss the organic, single-grain, single-barrel whiskey. 5–7pm; free. 24 S Michigan Ave (312-372-4243). In Fine Spirits Stop in to this wine and spirits bar Thursday through Saturday, when $20 buys you three one-ounce pours of In Fine Spirits’ barrel selections—Buffalo Trace 8 Year, Elmer T.
