The choices (or lack thereof) when it comes to selecting your child’s school in this town—not to mention the new lingo you need to learn—is nothing short of overwhelming. That’s why we’re grateful for Neighborhood Parents Network, a nonprofit that connects Chicago families with resources, information and each other. The group’s comprehensive school directory and überpopular, informative school fairs—for the North Side and suburbs, for the South Side and one just for families with kids with developmental disorders—draw thousands of families to join their ranks, because they make it all less mysterious and scary. Now if only they could fill out our applications, too…
