Time Out says

There's no better place to learn about Chicago’s Union Stock Yard and its surrounding neighborhoods—a meatpacking district known as “Packingtown” in the 1800s—than at the area's namesake museum. Curated by Dominic Pacyga, professor emeritus of history at Columbia College and author of the books Slaughterhouse, Chicago: A Biography, the Packingtown Museum provides a unique opportunity to connect Chicago’s industrial past to its future. One of the museum's primary missions is to inform contemporary conversations about labor, immigration, food production, community development and the economy.
