Time Out says
After spending the past few years working on passion projects—including an instrumental album recorded beneath a bridge on the Los Angeles River and a collection of covers of song by Americana duo the Handsome Family—Andrew Bird gets back to whistlin' violin rock on his new album. Cheekily titled My Finest Work Yet, Bird's latest collection of songs approach existential dread and political turmoil with a dark sense of humor, a few AP vocabulary words ("anathemas") and some of his most buoyant melodies since Armchair Apocrypha. Returning to his old stomping grounds of Chicago after a pair of intimate performances at the Green Mill earlier this year, Bird headlines the Chicago Theatre with support from 21-year-old singer-songwriter Madison Cunningham.
