There are places around town where you can stop by, have a few drinks, chat with friends and eventually realize there’s some jazz music playing at the far end of the room. Club Blujazz, which opened March 12 in Bucktown, is not one of them. It’s a seven-nights-a-week jazz club, where the focus is on clear sight lines and quality instruments. Its owner, Greg Pasenko, is a musician, as is his wife, Diane Delin, with whom he runs the cooperative record label Blujazz. The pair will be performing weekly: Pasenko with his quartet on Tuesdays, Delin with hers on Thursdays, with other local artists filling out the weekday lineup and bigger acts booked for the weekends, when covers range from $20 to $30. So while there are cocktails and flatbreads available here, too, take this advice: Chew quietly.
