Concerts at Lincoln Park Zoo are not new. The zoo has been hosting its Jamming at the Zoo series for year. But—how can we say this politely—those gigs have never been cool. The acts have largely been nostalgic. Stuff like Blondie and Sister Hazel. Yesterday, a much hipper bill played amongst the animals, as Disclosure brought its Wild Life tour to an appropriate setting.
Based in south London, Disclosure are the scarily young Lawrence brothers, Guy and Howard. They've been making forward-thinking dance music since 2010 but made a big breakout dent with their garage/house remix of Jessie Ware's "Running," and have since stepped it up with a series of big singles featuring Sam Smith, AlunaGeorge and Eliza Doolittle. Opening was 18-year-old Brooklyn native Joey Bada$$. The rapper displayed his devotion to crafty verses that rival his rigorous study of classic jazz loops.
