Located in the heart of the nightlife action in Wicker Park, the Double Door is essentially the little brother to the Metro, which books its acts. Many older local bands play here, leaning toward the tattooed set, alongside turns from touring groups. With a small cocktail balcony and downstairs bar, dubbed Door No. 3, the space offers respite from a noisome opening act or a dark corner to smash faces.

If you're looking to see a show in Wicker Park, Double Door is where it's at. The space is beat up, but that only adds to its character. There are three levels, including a sequestered area for people to relax on couches and rest while they get ready to groove out to some more tunes. The shots of Malort are incredibly expensive, though ($7), but I'll give them a pass on that front.
Double Door is a great little music venue that's easy to get to—right off the blue line Damen stop in Wicker Park. The venue hosts local and touring bands, so you never know what you might see. Downstairs is another laid-back bar where you can escape if things get too crowded on the main floor. Oh, and there's a photobooth!
