Earth, Wind & Fire

Reportedly, the rumbling bass line from a blasted Earth, Wind & Fire disc inspired the scene in Jurassic Park where an approaching dinosaur causes the water in a cup to ripple menacingly. Not that there's any real menace to the venerable band, just funk, grooves and good times, plus a rhythm and horn section that will make you crap your pants if you dare stop dancing for one fleeting moment and pay attention to the sheer tightness on display.
