Iggy Azalea's debut album The New Classic has been out for a matter of days, but the House of Blues was stuffed to the point of suffocation to see the risque rapper. DJ Wizz Kidd opened for our leading lady on this stop of the Monster Energy/Idol Roc Entertainment tour, hyping up the packed audience to the point where the wooden floor shook and bounced. Later, after almost an hour of standing around, listening to songs repeat on the PA, convinced that at any second the risque rapper would surprise us, the crowd began booing.
As if that was the call she had been awaiting, Azalea began the show. The crowd turned into a mosh-pit whirlwind of excitement for her charming smile, upbeat raps and tush, which really is just as enticing in person.
The Aussie worked in an outfit change—from short-shorts and Scarface tank top to shorter-shorts and bikini top—transitioning with a clip of Grace Jones and Eddie Murphy in Boomerang.
She danced fantastically, grabbed cell phones from the audience to snap selfies, and brought stripper poles to the stage, which was decked out with a South Beach Miami theme complete with "Hotel Iggy" facade. According to the 23-year-old, she can no longer twerk as she is no longer ratchet; now she's "Fancy." (Her single featuring Charli XCX just hit the Billboard Top 20 and continues to rise.) Azalea instead strutted with a confident walk and hair flips throughout the evening.
