James Murphy made a big show (a four-hour affair that took over Madison Square Garden) of closing the book on LCD Soundsystem in 2011. As it turns out, our musical heroes are just as bad at hanging up the cape as their comic book counterparts. So here we are—it's 2016 and the LCD Soundsystem is back together, working on a new album and becoming a ubiquitous headlining act at music festivals all across the globe. Can you blame them? There's a new generation of fans who have never head "All My Friends" in concert, not to mention the nostalgic folks who fondly remember the group's co-headlining tour with Arcade Fire in 2007. So, here we are—before LCD Soundsystem headlines Lollapalooza on Sunday night, the band will be playing two intimate, sure-to-be sold out shows at Metro. Call it a cash grab if you must, but there's a demand for what Murphy and company are supplying, and and only the most steadfast curmudgeon isn't going to have a good time.
