Annie Clark of St. Vincent shreds in style at Pitchfork Music Festival, Saturday, July 19, 2014.

Radio station 93XRT reels in a couple hip fish for its annual BIG Holiday concert. Fresh off a tour with David Byrne, Annie Clark churned out her new, self-titled record as St. Vincent. The album contains the kind of self-confident musings that have made her the reigning queen of indie rock, including the gem “Oh what an ordinary day / Take out the garbage, masturbate” on the single “Birth in Reverse.” Opening this holiday gig are unlikely 2014 hitmakers Future Islands. Frontman Sam Herring combines the poise and command of a Shakespearean actor with the onstage agility of an Olympic gymnast, and the band as a whole wrings improbable drama out of low-tech synth-pop simplicity.
