The Lawrence Arms

Local punks the Lawrence Arms celebrate the arrival of the holiday season in a typically anti-establishment fashion: By declaring War on Christmas. Each night of the three-concert series features a different set of opening acts, including Dead to Me, the Bollweevils, Worriers, Dowsing, the Copyrights and the Brokedowns.

Saw all three acts during the second night of the Lawrence Arms' 2nd annual War on Christmas, and was thoroughly impressed. Aside from having to callout an overzealous "personal space" invader three songs into their set, the Worriers kept it cool with punchy punk-rock ditties that had many a toe tappin. And, what can be said about Larry Arms that hasn't been said already? I've easily seen this band a dozen times, and they know how to treat their fans to a good show. Also, I'm constantly amazed by BK's ability to, not only stay coherent through his set, but continue his transformation into Chicago's very own Mike Burkett.
