Chicago businesses shutter in anticipation of a record-breaking arctic blast

Ever wondered how cold Antarctica really is? What about Siberia? Tomorrow Chicagoans will find out when potentially record-breaking negative temperatures hit the area. It's going to be so cold tomorrow that Illinois governor J.B. Pritzker issued a disaster proclamation this morning, highlighting the "serious threat" that this extreme winter weather poses to residents throughout the state.

As a result of the sub-zero temperatures, many Chicago restaurants and businesses are closing their doors until the mercury rises on Thursday. Here's a running list of some places you won't be able to visit until it gets warmer (we'll be updating as more businesses announce closures) :

Museums and attractions

Adler Planetarium: Closed Wednesday and Thursday.

Brookfield Zoo: Closed Wednesday and Thursday.

Navy Pier: Closed Wednesday.

Chicago History Museum: Closed Wednesday.

Chicago Public Schools: No after-school activities today, no classes tomorrow. CPS will notify parents by noon on Wednesday about a potential Thursday closing.

Du Sable Museum of African American History: Closed Wednesday. Will stay closed Thursday if CPS cancels classes.

Field Museum: Closes at 2pm today. Closed Wednesday.

Lincoln Park Zoo: Closes at 3pm today. Closed Wednesday.

MCA: Closed Wednesday.

National Museum of Mexican Art: Closed Wednesday.

360 CHICAGO: Closes at 8pm today. Closed Wednesday.  

Restaurants and bars

Goose Island (Clybourn and Fulton Street): Closed Wednesday.

Half Acre Lincoln and Balmoral: Closed Wednesday.

Pretty Cool Ice Cream: Closed Wednesday.

Revival Food Hall: Closed Wednesday.

Honey Butter Fried Chicken: Closed Wednesday.

Parson's Chicken & Fish (Lincoln Park and Logan Square): Closed Wednesday.

Lost Lake: Closed Wednesday.

Estereo: Closed Wednesday.

Lone Wolf: Closed Wednesday. 

Sportsman's Club: Closed Wednesday.

Pub Royale: Closed Wednesday.

Bad Hunter: Closed Wednesday.

Chicago French Market: Closed Wednesday. 

Spiaggia and Cafe Spiaggia: Closed Wednesday.

The Publican: Closed Wednesday.

Publican Quality Meats: Closed Wednesday.

Chicago Shakespeare Theatre: Tuesday and Wednesday productions of Us/Them have been cancelled.

The Goodman Theatre: Closed Wednesday.

The Green Mill: Closed Wednesday.

The Hideout: Closed Tuesday and Wednesday.

Lincoln Hall: Showing of The Chicago Moth StorySlam has been postponed to Wednesday, February 6.

Metro Chicago: Closed Wednesday. RAW Artists event has been moved to next Wednesday, February 6.

United Center: Wednesday's performance of Disney on Ice Presents Mickey's Search Party has been cancelled.
