If you're looking for love this Valentine's Day in Chicago, PAWS Chicago has a few special four-legged friends they'd like you to meet.

In an effort to call attention to some of its bigger dogs—who are often harder to adopt out because of cramped city living conditions—the no-kill shelter is once again hosting its Big Love Adoption Event, which spotlights adorable pups that weigh 40 pounds or more. During the two-week event, potential adopters can get acquainted with big-boned dogs like the "delightful" 1-year-old, 41-pound hound mix Cobbler or Chip, a 7-year-old, 53-pound shepherd mix who's described as having "a sensitive soul." (He's also, somewhat crushingly, one of the shelter's longest residents.)

To meet with the Big Love dogs, take the shelter's ComPETibility Quiz and Adoption Application form to see which dogs might be right for your lifestyle, and then set up an appointment to visit the Lincoln Park Adoption Center. Normal adoption fees still apply, but each of these cuties adopted during Big Love event (which runs from February 2 through February 16) will go home with a care package from PAWS that includes a leash and harness, a crate and a new toy perfect for getting them settled and comfortable at home.

Of course, in order to provide enough space for these supersized dogs, you'll need to have a larger living set-up (ideally a city or suburban home with a yard for your new furry companion to run around in), so take some time to think about whether you're equipped to welcome a big dog into your life. Not looking to adopt right now? You can still support PAWS Chicago this Valentine's Day season by making a donation in your sweetheart's name, and the shelter will send them a sweet Valentine's Day card to let them know that they're helping Chicago's homeless dogs and cats find support and care. Take a look at some of the sweet, lovable dogs available via PAWS' Big Love Adoption Event below.
