After a string of high-profile historical films like The Post, Bridge of Spies and Munich, director Steven Spielberg returns to science fiction with the March 30 release of Ready Player One, adapted from the novel set largely inside a virtual reality made up of 1980s pop-culture references. The Music Box Theatre will be screening Ready Player One in 70mm, and the theater wants to get you ready with a weeklong screening series showcasing five “Sci-Fi Spielberg” classics.
From Friday, March 16 through Thursday, March 22, you can catch genre-defining classics Close Encounters of the Third Kind and E.T. the Extra Terrestrial, as well as early-aughts entries A.I. Artificial Intelligence, Minority Report and War of the Worlds. See all five for just $30 ($25 for Music Box members), or purchase individual screenings for $11 (members $7). The Sci-Fi Spielberg series is on sale now; see the full schedule below. Tickets for Ready Player One in 70mm go on sale this Wednesday, March 7, for members and Friday, March 9 for non-members.
