1. Revisit the indie rock of the ’90s as the Afghan Whigs and Built to Spill arrive at the Vic on a co-headlining tour. The show starts at 7:30pm, and tickets are $36.

2. Get crafty or get inspired when the International Quilt Festival takes over the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont today through Saturday. Quilters can sign up for classes and workshops or browse the exhibitors on the show floor. Admission is $10 for the day or $25 for a festival pass, and show hours today are 10am to 6pm.

3. The theater company Collaboraction looks at the history of racism in Chicago in its new documentary-style show A Blue Island in the Red Sea, created and performed by a multiethnic ensemble. Tonight’s show is at 7:30pm, and tickets are $15–$30.
