1. Follow the Yellow Brick Road to the Chicago Theatre, where a family-friendly stage production of The Wizard of Oz is on stage through Sunday. Tonight’s performance is at 7pm, and tickets start at $39.

2. The sixth annual Chicago Nerd Comedy Festival kicks off at Stage 773 today, celebrating and satirizing nerd culture via stand-up, sketch, improv, burlesque and more. Tickets to individual shows are $15, and day passes and festival passes are also available.

3. The Museum of Contemporary Art’s exhibition “Howardena Pindell: What Remains to Be Seen” ends this weekend. Before it goes, learn more about the New York–based creator’s work as artist, curator and activist in a talk with MCA curator Naomi Beckwith, Northwestern professor Huey Copeland and artist Pablo Helguera. The event begins at 6pm, and tickets are $15 or $10 for MCA members.
