Though it's still possible to pick up to-go growlers of some of Chicago's best beer, you might nonetheless find yourself wistful for the days when you could roll up to your favorite brewery and chat about what's new on tap. On Friday, April 3, Illinois beer nerds will have the chance to recreate that experience at home, when a handful of local craft breweries host their own virtual happy hour and beer tasting sessions.

Organized by the Illinois Craft Brewers Guild, the digital festivities kick off at 8:30pm on Friday. The happy hour itinerary varies from brewery to brewery, but you can expect behind-the-scenes tours, tastings and Q&A sessions with the brewmasters behind your favorite beers.

To get in on the action, all you have to do is purchase beer for delivery or takeout from participating breweries across the city and suburbs, after which you'll receive an invitation to the 8:30pm Zoom call; in Chicago, the participating breweries are Dovetail Brewery, ERIS Brewery and Cider House, Goose Island Beer Company, Open Outcry Brewing and Whiner Beer Co. Bottoms up!
