Southern hospitality is out, Midwestern charm is in.
The 2024 Best Hotels Rankings by U.S. News and World Report have been released and two Chicago spots made the top five in the country. The Langham and The Peninsula in River North took the No. 3 and No. 4 spots on the list, respectively.
The company follows a detailed methodology for its ranking considerations—star rating, awards experts’ aggregate opinion and customer reviews all impact hotels’ ranks.
The Langham’s modern and chic design is paired with scenic views of the Chicago River, Lake Michigan and downtown. Travelle, the connected luxury lounge and restaurant, features an elevated contemporary American menu and a thorough list of “art-inspired” cocktails. Amenities include a signature spa, health club and 67-foot-long indoor pool. If guests find any reason to want to leave The Langham, shopping and exploration are just two blocks away at the Magnificent Mile.
According to U.S. News and World Report, The Peninsula combines the cosmopolitan vibrance of Hong Kong with the humility and comfort of the Windy City. This hybrid is evident even in rooms—plush furnishings are coupled with high-tech bedside consoles that control room temperature and lighting. Guests can be choosy with dining as there are several options: The Lobby, an in-house restaurant showcasing upscale classic American fare and afternoon tea; Shanghai Terrace, a 1930s Shanghai-themed concept with creative and classic iterations of Cantonese cuisine; or any of the best restaurants in River North steps away from the hotel.
Both Chicago hotels rub shoulders with some extravagant, beachside resorts in Florida and California on the list. Check out the full rankings of the Best Hotels in America below, and around the world on the U.S. News & World Report website.
