Backstage Bistro (CLOSED)

We’re not ones to jump at the chance to be guinea pigs, especially when food is involved. But this culinary student–operated restaurant in the Illinois Institute of Art gives good value if you can deal with the limited hours. The menu changes quarterly as a new round of students comes into place, and while it's never been one we'd classify as adventurous, the faculty chefs overseeing things ensure your salmon is properly roasted or your steak is nicely grilled.
