Former cooking-school instructor Bill Millholland opened his Uptown shop with two goals: Give people pastries and sandwiches for the early part of the day, and cheeses to nosh on later. At present, the noshes take a back seat to the breads and pastries, which fill the shop’s counter. Daily coffee cakes have a pleasantly dense, pound cake–like crumb, whereas sticky buns with hints of honey are notably soft. Huge sandwiches are a satisfying choice from the savory menu, and if you happen to fall in love with the bread used, you’re in luck: Loaves are available to go.

Awesome food, delicious coffee, neighborhood "gem," and the bakers frequently step out to give my dogs treats when we walk over. B&N is a great neighbor!
I. Love. Baker & Nosh. Love them. Everything they make here is amazing. I sent my boyfriend to one of their classes and now he makes amazing bread at home. One of my very favorite ways to work is sitting on their patio in the summer with the fountain running.
the croissants, the cookies, the service, the sandwiches, the dog treats by the door, the outdoor seating, the bread, the brownies, the smells, the smiles, the scones....
The food is phenomenal every single day. Delicious cakes, muffins, and pastries cooked fresh each morning. The staff are all friendly and personable. Everyone there loves dogs. Pups aren't allowed in the shop (or the yard) but they can sit at the sidewalk and their people can bring out fresh baked doggie treats.
Best place in all of Chicago. We moved away over a year ago and there is not a weekend that goes by where I don't think of their Treccia.
The food is delicious. You can count on hearty sandwiches and soups that change with the season. Of course the breads are handmade daily as are the other pastries. Often overlooked, the muffins are one of my favorites. The texture is remarkable for its light crumb, and unlike muffins you might find elsewhere, these are not heavy and oily in the least. The atmosphere is cozy and comfortable, and everyone I've met who works there is friendly and welcoming. Yes, I love this place.
