There are a few obvious tells that you are sitting in a Lettuce restaurant. Pretty, large-lettered signs advertising coffee drinks and breakfast pastries line the walls and some menu descriptions are a bit too precious. “Neatloaf?” “Cute banana split?” “Tall, dark and handsome” chocolate cake? These kind of sound like they belong in a mall restaurant. But as I slowly eat a piece of the most decadent caramel pie I’ve ever put in my mouth, I think—just go with it. Purists will inevitably complain that nothing at this restaurant makes any sense. But they’ll stop complaining once they start eating.

Beatrix is one of my absolutely favorite brunch options. I love all of the healthy choices on the menu - quinoa cakes! Kale salad! Mushroom burgers! I went with the cauliflower grits and eggs which was served with perfectly crispy Brussels sprouts. So filling and flavorful but also healthy and I didnt feel like I needed to have a post-brunch nap. Pure breakfast food enthusiasts might scoff at this menu but I think that it is very creative. Decently priced mimosas in various flavor options as well!

Beatrix is another very good Lettuce Entertain You restaurant that makes simple dishes very well. It has a coffee house vibe and offers the delicious coffee and baked goods to match.

The group I went with for brunch all enjoyed their meals. Everyone enjoyed the French Toast special and I was very excited about the Chilaquile bar. It offered all of the fixings you could want with house made tortilla chips. Based on other reviews, a person in our group who doesn't normally like quinoa ordered the Quinoa Cakes and stated, "this is how quinoa should taste." I'd say that's a compliment.

The Strawberry Mimosas were spoken highly about and my Spicy Bloody Mary was just that and I don't find many things spicy.

Simple dishes done very well with great value.
