Time Out says

The coffee-roasting operation on the corner of Morgan and 31st Street is a point of pride for Bridgeport and a source of jealousy for almost every other neighborhood. Housed in a prototypically warm-toned, wood-heavy coffeehouse (only without the fleabag couches and drum-circle vibe), Bridgeport Coffee sets itself apart by roasting its own beans and brewing them with levels of respect usually reserved for presidents. The pour-over here is a revelation—bright and clean and smooth. The fact that the expert staff and comfortable digs make you want to spend the day in the place is just a bonus.

Go for the coffee and stay for a $6 cupcake. Slightly over rated. Seriously? Where are we anyway? Michigan Avenue? I'll walk East to 31st and Princeton, NE corner. Excellent coffee, good vibes, double delicious homemade-Saturday THAI meals. And no $6 cupcakes!

I was in the neighborhood waiting for a friend. I decided to get some coffee, was very disappointed with the service.  I asked if they had almond milk, the answer was yes, so I ordered an almond milk latte. Then I waited and waited, no one was making my coffee, or any, it was not a busy time of day.  Finally, after more than 5 minutes, I see someone come in with a box of soy milk, soon after that my "almond" milk latte was served. I might have drunk it, but the soy milk was sweetened, yuck! Why would anyone who is serious about the coffee they serve, buy sweetened alternative milks. I don't use sugar in my coffee, it ruins the taste. No, I did not like the service and will not return.

This use to be one of my favorite coffee houses. As far as the quality of the coffee beans that they make, it's rich and dynamic blend. The service, consistency of their coffee's and sandwiches have gone down. I would attribute it to the fact that they expanded and have stretched themselves thin but the truth is, this happened before they opened their second location. If you like to brew your own coffee at home and would like to try different blends, give this place a try. I have tried Bubbly Creek, Hardscrabble and Mayor's Blend. Hardscrabble is my favorite, very creamy and smooth. They also have a good variety of loose leaf teas. It's definitely worth a trip if you are a coffee connoisseur. I would have given this place a 5 star rating 2 years ago and now am in search for a new place to go on Sunday mornings.
