Carnitas La Michoacana (CLOSED)

This melt-in-your-mouth pork haven is the kind you stumble upon down a seedy back alley in Mexico. Lucky for you, this stalwart is right in Pilsen. Whole pigs are cooked for hours in giant tubs filled with lard, chopped to smithereens and sold by the pound as delicious carnitas. Most of the locals in the chaotic line streaming out the door take their carnitas to go, but we like them with a mound of corn tortillas, fresh cilantro and lime wedges to scarf on the spot.
