In the mood for Uzbek food? No idea what that is? Start with palate-perker-uppers like pickled herring, watermelon or cabbage. Then move on to eggplant salad, rich with bittersweet chunks and sparkling with cilantro— make sure to get it plopped atop lepeshki, the round bread of Uzbekistan. Move on to luscious lamb meat atop roasted long beans and zucchini. Finish with the chak-chak, a block of fried noodles heavy with honey that’s something of an Uzbek take on the Rice Krispies treat.
