Edelweiss Restaurant

It may look as if the owners of this restaurant forgot to take down the holiday glitz, but the white lights and greenery are up year-round, adding to the festive feel of the cozy space. Meat and potatoes fill the menu, with the best bet being the combo platter of smoked pork chop, roasted pork loin, bratwurst, rouladen, griddled potatoes and spaetzle. The thin, flavorful veal cuts with perfect, crispy breading are great with your pick of nearly two dozen German beers.

Been coming to Edelweiss with my family for the greater part of two decades now! My grandparents have been coming here for even longer. Great place for a christening, birthday party for any age, or just a place to have a solid German meal with one or ten giant beers. My grandmas favorite, as well as my 13-year-old cousins's favorite - cross generational approval!

Great lunch specials and bar specials, especially compared to other German restaurants in the area (RIP Mirabell...). Rarely will I finish an entire meal here. Great specials on beer, too! Bring friends here (21+...) for Das Boot on their birthdays, they won't be disappointed, regardless of whether they finish it or not. Plenty on tap to choose from and definitely worth venturing outside the same old Chicago neighborhoods for!
