Flaco's Tacos

The Hackney’s crew opened this Mexican sibling to cater to the Columbia students and sprinkling of office workers in Printers Row. The former should be happy with the low prices and accessible gringo fare like quesadillas and burritos, while the latter can unwind over lunch with a cold cerveza. A handful of fillings can be had in tacos, tortas or burritos, and while the chicken and steak were consistently dry, the al pastor fared better, nice and juicy with a bit of kick. Specials, like a recent chicken posole, help set the place apart from Mexichains.

This Mexican joint is a great standby for inexpensive tacos and delicious margaritas. The tacos are good but not exceptional (they can be a bit dry). The game changes on Tuesdays when they serve up creative tacos. My favorite so far has been the chicken tikka tacos. You can call ahead and ask what they are serving each night. If you aren't loving the tacos, check out the pozole soup. Delicious. The mango and strawberry margaritas are the best I have had in the city. Be careful! They go down quick.

One of the better Mexican joints in the area without going over to Pilsen but not very authentic cuisine. The menu is large and offers tacos, burritos and tortas. I find the meat to be seasoned well but the tortillas, tortilla chips and breads are not very good. The drinks are reasonably priced and it's one of the few places to find Margaritas in the area.

I went to the Gold Coast location. The food was served relatively fast and the menu was quite big. Everything is very reasonably priced. Even the alcohol was very cheap considering the location. They have great specials on alcohol during the week. If you're in the mood for margaritas, I would consider checking this place out.
