Hazelnut gelato at the outdoor cafe of Freddy's Pizzeria in Cicero, IL.

This haven for true Italian gelato serves astonishingly creamy scoops that surge with flavor. Owner Giuseppe “Joe” Quercia—who emigrated from Naples, Italy, in 1968—makes the rotating 15 flavors with 14% milk and no eggs. It’s tough to go wrong with any flavor, but we’re addicted to the frutti di bosco (vanilla with wildberries), the Nocciola (hazelnut) and the refreshing limoncello (although if the basil is on offer, don’t miss at least a taste). Bonus: Dairy-free folks have more than a dozen Italian ice flavors to choose from.

I can't believe someone finally checked out this place for it's Italian Beef.  I'm a total beef snob, this place is AMAZING. The beef is perfect, the Giardiniera is a real giardiniera..with carrots and olives and spicy goodness...the bread is so good.  the whole good.  Ive got Al's near me, I've got Portillo's near me, I've got Bari near me (another top choice), I've got Mr Beef near me...I'd pick Freddy's every time if only it was nearer to me.
