Though mistletoe hangs over the counter year-round, the only encouragement you’ll need to kiss the cooks at this brick and timber sub shop is a bite of their sandwiches. Provolone takes the place of traditional Cheez Whiz in the cheesesteak, but still—the peppery paper-thin beef mixed with grilled onion and ribbons of green pepper makes this version one of the best local examples around. Lean corned beef or a roast turkey BLT piled high on rye are great no-fuss lunch treats for smaller appetites.
