Loop lunch standards are already pretty low, but this mini-chain deli drags them even lower. Sandwich meat (turkey, pastrami from Manny’s) is sliced wisp-thin (perhaps to match its thin flavor), and the flimsy sandwich bread (honey wheat, marble rye) can't handle the quantity of meat. Trying to make up for the sandwiches' shortcomings with Original Rainbow Cone—the two share the space—yields only badly mixed shakes and the curiously beloved eponymous five-flavor monstrosity. The quality of the orange sherbet and chocolate, pistachio, Palmer House and strawberry ice creams on the cone isn’t very good, but that’s beside the point. With so much wrong with the flavor combination, who has time to complain about texture?
