[title]Gene & Jude’s Fans of this iconic, no-frills River Grove hot dog stand will be happy to know not much has changed since Gene & Jude’s reopened in late May after a spring flood required some major repairs and rebuilding. There’s still a limited menu (dogs, fries, tamales), long lines, no tables and not a whiff of ketchup in sight. The best news, though, is that the snappy Vienna Beef red hots—topped with an abbreviated selection of classic Chicago toppings (mustard, diced onion, relish and hot peppers) and a generous fistful of fresh-cut fries ($2.49)—are just as greasy and satisfying as ever.—Judy Sutton Taylor
