Mega Vega roll at Hot Woks Cool Sushi

Time Out says

The third location of the pan-Asian mini chain recently opened in the old Kaze Sushi space, and it’s better than you’d think. Thai and Chinese dishes are pleasantly flavorful and light on grease, if unimaginative (there’s nothing wrong with a big bowl of comfort in the form of beef chow fun every now and then, is there?). You won’t find any surprises on the sushi side of the menu, either, but you will find a sense of humor: According to the menu, the Obama-nami maki is made with a “diverse group” of ingredients—including unagi, deep-fried salmon and cream cheese—and served with a cheery little American flag toothpick popping out.

I don't live in this neighborhood so I'm not exactly sure how desperate they are for a sushi/thai place, but this is good - not great. I love the atmosphere. It's fresh and cool and very upscale looking without being intimidating. The decor is minimal, but has red undertones everywhere which kind of "sexy" it up.

As for the food, I split a sushi roll called Mt. Fuji with two other people and we were all blown away. It was delicious! Even the girl that doesn't eat sushi raved about how much she enjoyed it. The entrees on the other hand were served in bowls that made it somewhat difficult to actually eat from with chop sticks. The portions were okay, but the flavors weren't exactly there. We all decided we'd come back for sushi but maybe not the entrees. The sushi was so tasty.
