Time Out says

This restaurant—adjacent to La Casa Del Pueblo grocery store—looks less like a restaurant than a cafeteria. But you’re not here for the atmosphere—you’re here for the incredible, tender tamales. While you’re here, check out some other dishes, like the tortas de camaron (fried shrimp patties) or chicharrónes en salsa verde (pork rinds soaked in a green-chilie sauce). But beware the pico de gallo—it’s so green not from cilantro, but from jalapeño.

OK, YES. This place was incredibleeee. The manager was extremely helpful in making suggestions (and translating our order to Spanish); the food was so, so delicious and wildly affordable ($15 for two people). I will definitely be coming back here next time I'm in Pilsen! I got the chicken tinga tacos with rice and beans. The tinga was juicy and packed with flavor, and the tortillas definitely seemed handmade. I definitely recommend this spot for authentic, delicious and cheap Mexican nosh!
