Because it's on the outer edge of Madison Street, beyond the throng of deafening bro bars, this warm, inviting place has a little more freedom to be classy. Sure, it's still an Irish pub, but that has less to do with shamrocks than Smithwicks and fish-and-chips. Flickering candles line the dark-wood bar, which sports a full wine rack and a respectable selection of bottled microbrews. There's also a conversation-friendly outdoor patio with six umbrella-topped tables.
