Owner John Nicolaides named this cute cupcake shop after his favorite grade-school teacher, who baked cupcakes for students’ birthdays. In two of our favorites, bits of bright carrot mesh with cream-cheese buttercream, and tangy dollops of lemon curd cut a rich vanilla cake. Reenact your own grade-school days by having a cupcake at the swing-style chairs flanking the counter.

Honestly, the best cupcake I've ever had. Can't wait to come back.

Shifting directions from regular reviews: I got my wedding cupcakes here and my wedding cake! I 100% recommend them for weddings.  Staff were very responsive and prices were reasonable for people on a tighter budget who still like yummy desserts. We got to come in and taste the cupcake combos and icings (a total dream!). Their big thing is filled cupcakes and we basically got a cake in that style: strawberry milkshake cake. I also took some engagement pictures there as they have a retro vibe and sweet swings you can sit on at the counter while you canoodle with your partner.  There is also a River North location that I stopped at over the weekend.  I dropped my cupcake in the container and it was still fantastic--chocolate ganache with light whipped cream icing. Their cupcakes are moist :) and always flavorful.

There's a reason this place is featured on so many it-lists and foodie shows - they are really that great. Their cupcakes are all really moist (fall apart in your hands moist), and come in great flavors. The Ron Bennington is my personal favorite, but I have yet to try another flavor I don't like. Lines in the shop can get long at times, but the staff moves quickly, and if you eat there you can sit on a swing and top your cupcake with the jars of sprinkles they have sitting out. They also have late hours (for a bakery), so there's no excuse to avoid getting yourself a treat!

I usually stop here for a little sugar rush after looking through records at Dave's down the street. There are all kinds of sweets here, but the red velvet cupcake is my favorite.
