If the city were flooded with Persian joints tomorrow, this spot would still be packed. There’s something about the casual room brightened with colorful tile murals, the smoky baba ghanoush, the cinnamon-and-tomato-braised lamb shank and those tender chicken kebabs, charred outside but still juicy inside, plopped down on deliciously fluffy rice alongside charbroiled tomatoes and onions. A cup of Persian tea to follow, and we’re in heaven.

Noon o Kabab is my go-to place for authentic and DELICIOUS Persian food. I bring my friends, enemies, and strangers to this place, because it’s too good not to share. They provide free parking in a lot across the street, and it’s located very, very close to the brown line. The walls are covered with Persian art and carpets and makes me miss Iran. Everything I have shoved into my mouth has made me deliriously happy and incredibly full afterward. Grab some noon (bread) and a skewer of kabab from here and you won’t regret it!
