Time Out says
Chicago’s resident royal pie baker has made some big changes this past year—condensing both the Chicago location and Three Oaks, Michigan location into the former Nightwood spot to turn it into an all-day pub. But the new space is lovely. It’s open all day, meaning you’ll find people hunched over tables with computers by their pastries, and couples on coffee dates chatting over snacks. In the evenings, the menu switches to a full-service dinner. Start with the pickles, a tiny jar filled with tangy pickled beets, carrots and gherkins, then pick any pie for dinner with a side of the salty, crunchy bubble and squeak, a traditional English dish with fried veggies—you can’t go wrong with the savory steak and ale pie and the creamy veggie-friendly kale and mushroom number. End your meal with the seasonal fruit trifle, adorable with sweet and boozy cake topped with tufts of whipped cream and layered with fruit and custard.

Pleasant House Pub is one of my favorite locations in Pilsen. It has the most perfectly laid back vibe that feels like home. Pleasant House is well known in Chicago for their pies and they are absolutely delicious! My go to favorites are the Mushroom & Kale pie and their Steak & Ale pies. If you want to go all out, try one of their Royal pies & don't pass up the Deluxe Gravy Chips for the ultimate comfort food experience. They also have a fantastic beer list & awesome cocktails! Even though this spot is one of my go to spots for dinner, they are open in the mornings & have a great selection of pastries.
If you could take a bite out of heaven, it would come in a form factor of a pie made from this heavenly place
Beautiful, cozy space; friendly and knowledgable staff; true farm-to-table, delicious food; great beer and cocktail selection, and it's close to my home on the south side, for a change. I love this place.
Chicken Balti pie, awesome burger w/ the tastiest brioche bun, delicious flaky croissants and on the right day they make some of the best doughnuts in town, not to mention the gorgeous space, what's' not to love?! #RunOnSentenceReviews
Cozy atmosphere that seems to fit whatever mood you're in. They have different specials everyday (entree wise), and a featured pie. I had the honor of having the Turkey Tikka Masala pie - it was the perfect blend of seasoning, and I looked forward to my leftovers the next day. I also had the fish and chips (Fridays only) - divine! They keep their menu fresh and use local growers. Might I suggest sitting by the kitchen - the chefs like the company, and and they are a wealth of information ;-)
Bottom line: Pleasant House Pub lives up to its name!
The venue is stunning and staff are welcoming. Food is immense and if you just fancy a coffee and a pastry on point. The decks add flava and my gosh the beers.
Fantastic home made pies, fresh baking, freshly roasted and ground coffee and specialty beers. My favourite has to be the kale and mushroom pie, and don't forget to try their fresh scotch eggs!!
Delicious pies and amazing pastries and bread! Best kind of comfort food, hearty, warm and delicious! Love their beer selection and of course their excellent service!
Always loved Pleasant House and really love the new venue. Food, service and atmosphere does not disappoint.
The atmosphere is great. The pies are soooo good, and the beer list is very well curated. Also, try the "bubble & squeak"!
