This sparse Middle Eastern cafeteria has a rich history behind its deep-red walls: Owner Rashad Moughrabi has been in the restaurant business since the 1970s. He’s been serving his signature “steak in a sack” all the while, and the sandwich still holds up, with thin, juicy slivers of steak and caramelized onions piled into a pita with diced tomatoes. Other menu highlights include creamy hummus and nicely grilled chicken shawarma with tahini sauce.
