Raj Darbar Indian Restaurant

Normally we wouldn’t shell out more cash than we would on Devon’s reasonably priced restaurant row, but the perk here is delivery. Fried-food fans love the mix platter, packed with samosas, potato patties, crispy prawns and Indian-style onion rings. Try the yellow lentil, roasted eggplant or okra, and if you’re a carnivore, go for the raisin-and-cashew-studded chicken shahi korma. Since the heat levels cater to the Anglo neighborhood, request “spicy” if you’re looking for scorchers.

Raj Darbar used to be my absolute favorite go to for several years. As of recently, sorry Charlie, we are no longer friends. It's been fun, but when I spend $79 for food I expect to get what I order and consistensy is key. This time the debacle was that we ordered four Tandori Chickens and two were so spicy that our guests asked us if we had anything in the house for them to eat. The other two were completely mild. My Shrimp Tikki Masala had 3  - did you hear me??? THREE shrimp in the dish. So the value and the quality in my opinion have taken a major nose dive. We are already in the market for a new Indian joint that doesn't charge an arm and leg for delivery, but I absolutely refuse to even pick up from here anymore.

I know Devon is the place to be for Indian food, but Raj Darbar was a great substitute if you live in the area. It was cheap and still so delicious! Service was a tad slow, but things were good other than that. I took my grandmother and 8 year old cousin and everyone loved it! The portions were HUGE, which made for cheap dining. Definitely share a plate here. And try lots of things! Nothing disappointed.
