The food was great. The Mozzarella Sticks were incredible. They were the best Mozzarella Sticks they had ever experienced. The Calamari was delicate and well cooked. It did not taste too heavy or greasy. The Marinara Sauce was the same for both. It worked well with each of the appetizers. My favorite food item we ordered was the Shrimp and Calamari Salad. The dressing on that was fantastic. The Shrimp was not chewy at all. It was perfectly cooked. I enjoyed the Asparagus tossed throughout the salad. The specialty pizzas were innovative and interesting. The toppings were plentiful. The Goat Cheese on the Homestead Pizza had an intriguing hint of cinnamon or nutmeg that I am still craving. The Sausage on the Bangers and Lace Pizza was packed full of bold flavor. One of my friends does not eat pork and wanted the Antique Taco Pizza, but assumed the Chorizo was pork. She asked our server if they could make it without the Chorizo. She explained that she doesn't eat pork. At that point, our server informed us that the Chorizo is actually chicken. My friend was thrilled.

I would return....

I really enjoyed the food. The atmosphere was a bit hectic, but it was a busy Thursday night. Roots had several TV screens throughout the restaurant. The atmosphere was loud and lively. I enjoyed the white subway tiles throughout and the interesting light fixtures. It seemed very child and family friendly. It seemed to cater to a variety of people. I like the idea that I can come with my family or return with friends. I enjoyed the food and the look and feel of the restaurant. This particular night seemed a bit off. The server appeared frantic and the manager could be seen giving harsh looks and whispering to the server as she would walk away from a table.  The interaction appeared visibly hostile. I also was very impressed with the separate beer menu, but lots of it had the words "sold out" stamped on it. I felt discouraged by that menu to the point where I did not want to attempt to order off that particular menu.  I would definitely return for the food and the beer list and hope to be able to spend more time understanding how the beer menu works and the story behind the restaurant's concept.

For a different take on thin crust pizza Roots is a must. The taco pizza and the mozzarella sticks can't be beat. Excellent beer list that is constantly rotating.
