Although named for the boats used to catch lobster, Smack Shack was launched as a food truck in 2010 serving lobster rolls from a land-locked downtown Minneapolis parking lot. Now, they've got a location in the West Loop where in addition to lobster rolls they dole out  southern fried chicken, po' boys, fish tacos and strip steak.

I at fist did not want to post a review because i wanted to keep this spot all to myself BUT here it goes! I went here for brunch and for $35.00 you can get ALL you can eat and add an extra $15.00 and you can get unlimited Mimosa's. I enjoyed ALL 7 food stations lol. They offer an omelette, Benedict bar and a carving station with brisket and other food and OF COURSE they have all you can eat crab legs, shrimp and raw oysters! even have Glazed and Infused donuts! Hello Red Velvet :) Save room for dessert as they make their own ice cream! The mac and cheese was just ok the salads were awesome too!

I came here for dinner and was slightly underwhelmed. I found the food to be a bit pricey for what I was getting.

However, the brunch is absolutely worth it. It's a $35 buffet style brunch including seafood towers, omelettes, eggs benedict, a meat station, a waffle station, fruits, yogurt, granola, and a full bloody bar!

We ended up here after London House was a bust.

10 mins before closing and they were the nicest people in the world.

What a cute space! I felt the vibe of beachy, seafood, east coast style in there!

We got a TON of food. Seafood tower, po boys, juicy Lucy, etc...let me tell you. It was all AMAZING! And for the price....couldn't be beat.

Again, did I mention how nice the staff was. And attentive! I'll definitely be back for my seafood fix

Boy can this place make a lobster roll! They offer two varieties, both priced at $20 and come with chips for free, or fries for $2 more, and a nice dill pickle

Option one is the Smack Shack Original which is a traditional chilled salad with cucumber and tarragon on their griddled milk bread, and is so perfectly captured in its partially eaten form in the first picture.

Option two is the Connecticut-Style which happens to be my preferred option in the second picture. It has warm lobster tossed in butter, lemon, and chive placed in a traditional split top bun with a leaf of butter lettuce. I prefer warm lobster and crab with drawn butter, over cold which is why I am drawn to this variety (pun intended.)

Both have a very healthy amount of lobster, and is well worth the $20. My only criticism would be that the buns are a little on the greasy side, so prepare to use napkins.
